Terms of service

Our terms, in plain English

These are the terms for our pay-monthly websites and Care plans. We've kept them short and readable — if anything's unclear, ask us before you sign up.

1. Who we are, and when these terms apply

Go Red Robot Design is the design arm of the Go Red Robot group, run as a sole trader. "We" and "us" means Go Red Robot Design; "you" means the person or business signing up.

These terms apply when you sign up for a website package (Basic, Business or Enterprise) and any Care plan. You agree to them by ticking the box when you sign up. Our services are meant for businesses — if you're signing up as a private individual, see section 11.

2. What your package includes

Your package includes the website, hosting, business email and a domain as described on our pricing page at the time you sign up — including the number of pages, mailboxes, storage and backups for your package.

  • Mailboxes and storage are for normal business use. They're not for bulk or marketing email sending, or for storing files unrelated to your website and email.
  • Your domain. A .co.uk, .uk or .com domain is included while you're subscribed and is registered in your name. Other endings (such as .io) may cost extra — we'll tell you before you commit.
  • Your dashboard. Every package includes a login to your customer dashboard.

3. Building your site

After you sign up, we aim to have a first draft ready within 2 working days of receiving what we need from you. We design and redesign until you're happy with it, within the scope of the package you chose (for example, a Basic site is one page). Adding pages or features beyond your package means moving up a package or paying for the extra work (see section 6).

4. Payments

  • You pay monthly, in advance, by card through Stripe. Your first month is taken when you sign up.
  • There's no setup fee, and we don't offer or require annual payment.
  • If a payment fails, we'll let you know and try again. If it's still unpaid after 14 days, we may pause your website and email until it's paid.
  • We won't raise your price during your first 12 months. After that, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any price change, so you can decide whether to stay.

5. Minimum term and cancelling your package

  • 12-month minimum. Your package has a minimum term of 12 months from your first payment. That's how we can build your site with no setup fee.
  • After 12 months your package continues month to month at the same price (subject to section 4). You can cancel with 30 days' notice by email or WhatsApp.
  • Leaving early. If you want to end your package before 12 months are up, you pay the remaining monthly payments of your first 12 months — for the package only, never for Care. Once that's paid, the website is yours as described in section 7.
  • Changing package. You can move up to a bigger package at any time; it doesn't restart your 12 months. You can move down once your first 12 months are up.

6. Care plans and extra work

  • Care is monthly and never tied in. You can add, change or cancel Basic Care or Complete Care in any month. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for.
  • Change allowances. Basic Care includes one small change a month of up to 15 minutes; Complete Care includes up to 30 minutes of changes a month. A small change is something like text, photos, opening hours, prices or a new testimonial — not new pages or features. Unused time doesn't carry over to the next month.
  • Extra work — anything beyond your allowance, or changes if you don't have Care — is charged at £40 an hour, billed in 15-minute blocks (£10). We'll tell you the cost before we start.
  • Reply times (2 working days on Basic Care, the next working day on Complete Care) are for replies to your requests, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
  • The monthly reports and search work in Complete Care are there to help your site get found. Nobody can honestly promise a position on Google, and we don't.

7. Who owns what

  • From day one, your domain, content and email are yours. Your domain is registered in your name. The words, photos and logos you give us stay yours, and your email is your data.
  • The website design and code become yours after 12 months — once your first 12 monthly payments (or the early-leaving payment in section 5) have been made. Until then, you have full use of them as part of your package.
  • Handover. Once the site is yours, ask and we'll give you a full copy of your website and its content, free. The built-in editor runs on our hosting, so if you move to another host, they may need to set up their own way of editing the site.
  • Content you give us must be yours to use (or you must have permission to use it). You're responsible for making sure it doesn't break anyone else's rights.

8. When you leave

  • We'll help you move your domain to another provider, free.
  • Please save any email you want to keep before your service ends. We keep your website and mailboxes for 30 days after the service ends, in case you change your mind or need something, and then delete them.

9. Fair use

Please don't use your website, hosting or email for anything illegal, for spam, or for anything that puts our servers or other customers at risk. If that happens, we may pause the service while we sort it out with you, and end it if it's serious or keeps happening.

10. Our responsibilities

We'll provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We monitor your site around the clock and keep backups as described for your package, but no website can be online 100% of the time. We're not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits or lost business, and our total liability to you is limited to what you've paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited — for example, for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. If you're a consumer

Our services are designed for businesses, but some rights depend on who you are, and these terms never take away rights the law gives you.

  • South Africa. If the Consumer Protection Act applies to you (it covers individuals, including sole proprietors), you can cancel your package at any time on 20 business days' written notice. We may charge a reasonable cancellation fee, which will never be more than the remaining payments of your 12-month minimum term.
  • United Kingdom. If you're signing up as a consumer (not for a business), you have 14 days to cancel after signing up. If you ask us to start work during those 14 days, we may charge for the work already done.

12. Changes to these terms, and the law that applies

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top and tell you about significant changes at least 30 days in advance. Changes won't make your minimum term longer or your early-leaving payment bigger. For UK customers, these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales; for South African customers, by South African law.
